The Crane

(Knoxville, USA,2017,JM)

There are 15 species of cranes, these beautiful animals live everywhere except South America and Antártica. They are very faithful one to each other, and the “marriage” gets dissolve due to death or “divorce” when they can not procreate, otherwise they stay together for ever. They symbolize happiness and eternal youth in Asian cultures, and it it said that if you fold a thousand origami cranes you can ask for a wish. It is also recognized as a symbol for war victims , after a young Japanese girl, Sadako, who was dying of leukemia due to the atomic bomb, folded those thousand in paper, wishing much likely to fight her battle than ultimately lost.
